- Ash Marinaccio.
Ash Marinaccio is an artist who creates work that challenges the status quo. She is dedicated to documenting the socio-political issues that define our times. Ash's photography has been published in Time Out NY, Anthropology News, The Daily News and Huffington Post. She is the recipient of AAA (American Anthropological Association) Photo of the Year Award in 2015, and part of the Indypendent's "Ippy Award" winning team for the photo essay "We Contain Multitudes: Occupy Wall Street". Ash is a contributor to Green Room Blog and The Indypendent.
Ash is co-founder/director of Co-Op Theatre East. She holds her M.A. in Performance Studies from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and BA in theatre directing and sociology/anthropology with minors in women/gender and Middle Eastern from Pace University. Currently, Ash is working on her Ph.D. in Theatre at CUNY Graduate Center where her research interests include exploring theatre practices in war zones, applications of theatre in social justice movements, politics and performance in times of crisis, community-based theatre, intersections between anthropology and theatre, and documentary theatre.
